Now through November 15th, Shea Moisture is taking a stand to make a difference in the
lives of young women by supporting Tigerlily Foundation's New
Normal Program. The
New Normal Program covers costs for patients to receive complementary
treatments such as acupuncture, massage, coaching, Reiki, yoga and more.
Upon approval,
the applicant may select a service in their area and Tigerlily
Foundation will then process a payment for the service directly to the
service provider. The goal is to support young breast cancer survivors
in their survivorship process and improve their quality
of life after treatment, by helping them to find their "New Normal".
Through this partnership,
Shea Moisture is donating a limited
supply of which Tigerlily Foundation will send out to approved applicants.
Supporting this initiative is simple. Just visit
Shea
Moisture
and click on the picture of the young breast cancer survivors pictured
on their home page to check out their look. Then, if you want that look,
buy any make-up product.
Shea Moisture will donate a matching product to the Tigerlily Foundation New Normal Program, which supports survivorship and quality of life improvement after diagnosis.
About Tigerlily Foundation:
Tigerlily Foundation is a national breast cancer foundation providing
education, awareness, advocacy and hands-on support to young women
(15-40) – before, during and after breast cancer. Their goal is to
provide them with important breast health information
that could someday save their lives or the lives of their peers. They
teach young women at an early age about their breast health, their
bodies and ways to be their own best advocate. Education and early
detection can save lives. Tigerlily Foundation supports
education, awareness, advocacy, services and support to young women
diagnosed with, living with and surviving breast cancer. This empowers
young women to live their lives and fulfill their dreams.
Tigerlily
Foundation was founded by Maimah Karmo, after she was diagnosed with
breast cancer at 32 years old. Maimah is committed to educating young
women around the world
about breast cancer; and empowering them to be their own best
advocates. She is dedicated to changing the young adult breast cancer
landscape and seeks to impact the quality of care and lifestyle for
young women affected by this disease. She chose to name
the organization Tigerlily because like a flower loses its petals in
the Fall and Winter, then blossoms and grows in the Spring and Summer, a
woman undergoing treatment can also find her true beauty, strength and
be transformed during and after breast cancer.
Maimah is also the author of "Fearless: Awakening to My Life's Purpose
Through Breast Cancer", the Publisher of
Bliss Magazine, and proud mother of 12-year old
Noelle.
Tigerlily Foundation focuses on education, prevention and support by offering
programs
such
as the Funds for Families Program (providing financial assistance),
Hope Bag Program (providing newly diagnosed women Hope Bags that include
goodies to pamper, soothe, educate,
empower and manage stress during treatment), At Home Program (offering
household-needs and grocery gift cards to patients), Peer Education
Through Awareness and Leadership (PETALs) Program (providing prevention
education for girls and young women) and many
other programs. In addition, TigerLily Foundation advocates on Capital
Hill for young women’s breast health issues, through the Hill panel
discussions.
