Amazing Apps: Sworkit Kids

Sworkit, the popular fitness app for adults on Android and iOS, is excited to announce the launch of Sworkit Kids, a new free fitness app that is making fitness fun for the whole family.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is recommended that children participate in 60 minutes of physical activity each day.

Sworkit (which stands for Simply WORK IT) is hoping to help children reach these goals with the release of their new kids fitness app, which was designed to meet the health and fitness needs of kids, while teaching them to love exercise from an early age.

“We want kids to grow up healthy, successful, and confident in themselves,” said developer Ryan Hanna. “Getting them up and moving is a way to encourage this lifestyle and increase their physical and mental development.”

Sworkit Kids features fun exercise videos demonstrated by kids for kids. Their customizable workouts focus on movements that promote strength, agility, and flexibility and can be performed in segments of 5 minutes or more.

Recommended for kids between the ages of 5 to 14, Sworkit Kids encourages kids to put their fitness skills to the test. Can they crab crawl for 30 seconds or do 10 squats? How long can they hop on one foot or walk the tightrope? Exercises like these get those little legs moving and their blood pumping while keeping them entertained.

Teachers and physical education specialists are even putting the app to use in the classroom. It can be used for only a few minutes to help get their wiggles out or put to work for an entire period of stretching and moving.

"I used the Sworkit Kids app in all of my classes from Kindergarten through fifth grade and they all loved it and so did I," said Phys Ed Specialist Kevin Tiller.

With the busy holiday season quickly approaching families will be able to turn to Sworkit Kids to help keep the whole family active.

"When kids want to exercise it motivates mom and dad to get involved too, setting values and creating healthy habits they can practice their whole lives," said Hanna.

Sworkit Kids is now available for free to download.

Nexercise launched Sworkit in 2014 to deliver on-demand, video exercise programs that can be done anywhere, anytime. Its development team is made up of an ACSM certified personal trainer, US Army Reserves captain, and software developer, whose unique backgrounds gave them insight into every facet of the fitness industry. Their app has garnered over 10 million users, been featured in Lifehacker, Women’s Running, Gizmodo, Mashable, Army Times, Brit+Co, Elle Magazine and more, and received the DC TechDay Techie Award for Best in Health Tech in 2014. Sworkit recently partnered with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, providing content for the very successful and popular #Commit2Ten Program.
