Through their common goal to create a convenient, transparent, and
meaningful way to give back, four young undergraduates from University
of North Carolina - Chapel Hill founded CommuniGift. They launched a
pilot test during the holiday season of 2014 and quickly
expanded to make a difference in kids’ lives through the power of
birthdays.
CommuniGift offers
kids the opportunity to give back to their peers and communities by
sponsoring a ‘birthday buddy’ in their area. Hosts are able to
choose one or more recipients through the CommuniGift site and link the
birthday buddy’s wish lists in their birthday invitations. Guests can
then purchase a gift for the recipients from the CommuniGift site
through integration with Target and it is shipped
directly from the retailers to the sponsoring nonprofit. CommuniGift
hosts still enjoy their birthdays as planned, but instead of adding
dozens of toys to the top shelf of the closet, they have helped children
less fortunate know the joy of having a birthday
party of their own!

About CommuniGift
CommuniGift
is an online invitation and gift-purchasing platform with a charitable
twist, providing an opportunity for kids to share the joy of a birthday
or holiday celebration with children less fortunate.
Through CommuniGift’s partnerships with organizations like Salvation
Army, Boys and Girls Club, Baby2Baby, Volunteers of America, Tomchei,
and Chai Lifeline, kids can select another child with the same birthday
and invite their guests to purchase an item from
their ‘buddy’s’ wish list to be delivered directly from their online
retailers. CommuniGift’s seamless RSVP and gift-purchasing platform
provides a convenient and meaningful giving opportunity for kids and
their families. CommuniGift’s goal is to see every
child have the special day they deserve.
