Book Nook: Sometimes

Sometimes is a story about a familyimmigrating to the U.S. Written by Texas elementary school teacher Hugo Ibarra and expert ELL educator John Seidlitz, the book is based on first-hand stories from their students and parents as well as Ibarra’s own experience immigrating to the U.S. at 25.

There aren't a lot of books written about immigration specifically that target early elementary, so I appreciated the chance to review this book, which follows Andrés and Clara as they experience new things, including temporarily splitting up as a family. The book provides a good insight into the immigration experience for kids who have never experienced it, as well as provides a way for kids to realize that there is always hope, even if sometimes things seem dark.
