Consumer Critique: Postnatal Vinyasa Yoga

Postnatal Vinyasa Yoga is a followup to the best selling DVD series, Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga. Postnatal Vinyasa Yoga offers a specific regimented series of 3 yoga routines designed to get the new mother back onto her yoga mat, and progressively offers more demanding vinyasa yoga to assist the new mom in regaining her strength and stamina so she can return to her regular practice, in a safe and effective manner.
  • The yoga routines are created in easy to do durations of 5, 15, and 30 minutes.
  • The 2 vinyasa yoga routines offer a separate model demonstrating modifications that are safe for women who have delivered via Cesarean.
  • The DVD offers a segment on understanding and assessing Diastasis Recti (abdominal separation due to pregnancy), as well as an overview of the female pelvic floor.
I had a chance to review the DVD, and I really liked it. I'm well past being immediately postnatal, but I would have appreciated a DVD like this immediately after giving birth. The short workouts that are only 5 minutes make it possible squeeze in a workout at any time, getting the benefits of a workout like increased energy and relaxation with just a few minutes. The longer workouts are still appropriate for someone who has recently given birth, and the clearly knowledgeable instructor offers modifications as necessary.

The DVD is available on Amazon, and you can find out more information about pre- and postnatal yoga here, as well as pregnancy hypnosis and relaxation.
