Consumer Critique: Beets BLU

Beets BLU makes some really helpful, nifty tech gadgets - a PagerTag, a Smart Scale, and a Heart Rate Monitor. I had a chance to review the PagerTag and Monitor.

The PagerTag is small, the size of just a couple quarters, and can be placed in a bag or pocket, then paired with a smartphone (Android or iOS) to alert the user when the phone and tag are more than 15 feet away from each other. If you often leave your purse or bag behind but remember your phone, it's great to remind you that your bag is still sitting somewhere. If you have Android 5.0 or later, it can be used as a Trusted Device to unlock the screen as well.

You can also use it when traveling - attach to your bag, and get notified when your bag is in baggage, claim. Or put it on a pet in a leash-free area and know right away when the pet wanders a little too far.

The Heart Rate Monitor can also be paired with an Android or iOS device, wirelessly transmitting data to your smartphone during your workout. It's small, light, and - once you get used to having a strap - fairly comfortable.

Both devices can be purchased on the Beets BLU website, or at Amazon.com
