Caring Causes: Drive Adoption

Willie and Korie Robertson of Duck Commander - television series creators and stars of A&E’s Duck Dynasty - have always had huge hearts for helping those in need, and one issue particularly dear to them is adoption. Last year on race day at Texas Motor Speedway, Willie and Korie met a young boy who would become the newest addition to their family and began the process of adopting again.  It is in honor of that moment and the other children who have become part of their family through adoption that this year they will launch Drive Adoption – an initiative of the Worldwide Foundation – at the Duck Commander 500 in hopes to spread awareness for the more than 17 million children around the world and over 100,000 children in foster care nationwide who are in need of a forever family. The Duck Commander 500 race seemed the perfect place to get the word out there about Drive Adoption, as it is the largest-attended, single-day sporting event in the state of Texas.

 “We’ve always been inspired by the verse that says religion that God finds pure and faultless is to look after orphans and widows in their distress (James 1:27),” shares mother-of-six Korie Robertson. Willie Robertson adds, “We’ve done a lot of cool things in the past couple of years, we've been to Super Bowls, we've met presidents – but the best decision we have ever made – the decision that made the biggest impact on our life, was the decision to adopt our son, Will.  This year adoption has touched our family’s lives in awesome ways again through bringing Rowdy into our family and through Jep and Jessica’s adoption of baby Gus.” 

To help generate adoption awareness, Texas Motor Speedway and Duck Commander have established a special "Drive Adoption" ticket package for NASCAR's first points-paying Saturday night race of the 2016 Sprint Cup season. The package consists of two frontstretch tickets for the Duck Commander 500 - NASCAR's third-largest paying race - and a pair of special Uncle Si Duck Commander duck calls for $150.  

The "Drive Adoption" package is available now and offers purchasers more than a 30 percent savings from the retail price. In addition, a $25 donation from each package sold will be made to Worldwide Foundation on behalf of Speedway Children's Charities. Fans also can visit www.texasmotorspeedway.com/driveadoption to make a "Drive Adoption" donation that Speedway Children's Charities will present to the Worldwide Foundation.
