Dr. Jonathan Donath is a physician who has treated many back pain sufferers with a non-surgical spinal depression therapy, FDA-cleared treatment for severe herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and failed back surgery. He also wrote a book I got to review, The Neck and Back Pain Solution: Everything You Need to Know About Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy.
Conventional
medical treatments for back and neck pain often don't work or only work temporarily. Customary treatment doesn't take into account the root problem of pressure on the nerves from the spine or the spinal cord. That's why decompression therapy can work. "I have treated thousands of patients and enabled
them to obtain long term relief from crippling pain in their back, neck,
legs, and arms,” says Donath. "Before anyone with severe back or neck
pain considers surgery, with all its associated risks and problems, they
should have an examination with a doctor who specializes in spinal
decompression therapy to find out if they are a candidate for this
treatment.”
The book explains how spinal decompression therapy works, it's advantages, and also gives a good overview of why we tend to get back pain. It's not necessarily a book for everyone, but would be appropriate for those who are exploring options to relieve their back pain.
Dr. Donath is also certified in other techniques such
as Active Release Technique (ART), a hands-on, non-invasive solution
for soft-tissue injuries and the Graston Technique, a patented form of
instrument-assisted, soft-tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to
effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. Some
conditions commonly improved by these two treatment techniques include
headaches/migraines, back and neck pain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel
syndrome, plantar fasciitis, TMJ pain, as well as most types of
tendonitis.
Dr. Donath is an adjunct assistant professor at the
School of Medicine at New York Medical College and is a frequent
lecturer at Jacobi Medical Center in New York. Dr. Donath graduated
Summa Cum Laude from the University of Bridgeport College of
Chiropractic, and was the valedictorian of his class. He also has a
Masters degree in Human Nutrition.
