Movie Minute: Owlegories Volume 3

Spy House Productions and Gundersen Entertainment recently released a brand-new Owlegories™ adventure, Owlegories™ Vol. 3 – The Fire, The Duck, The Seasons, on May 17 through Capitol Christian Distribution.  Available at LifeWay Christian Stores, Family Christian Stores, Mardel and many other independent Christian bookstores and online retailers such as Amazon.com, the all new gospel-centered animated DVD series and interactive digital app teaches kids about God through the amazing things found in nature and revealed in God’s Word. Fans may also purchase the DVD directly at www.owlegories.com or shop.owlegories.com.

I had a chance to review this third installment from the Owlegories series, which is currently the best-selling new children’s DVD brand in Christian retail for the past year. Vol. 3 features lessons in refining fire, the greatest gift and God’s sovereignty, as well as brand new music and a new character—Uncle Fly—voiced by A&E Duck Dynasty’s “Uncle” Si Robertson.

Episode 1: The Fire: The Professor sends the owls to an ancient refinery to learn about pure gold and discover three ways God is like fire. Recap presented by Ben Stuart, the Executive Director of Breakaway Ministries. The KEY VERSE is Hebrews 12:28-29.

Episode 2: The Duck: The class travels to the swampland to meet Professor Owlester’s old college roommate, Uncle Fly (Duck Dynasty’s Si Robertson.) They learn the importance of working together and discover three great gifts given to us all by God. Recap presented by Silas “Uncle Si” Robertson from Duck Dynasty. The KEY VERSE is 1 Peter 4:10.

Episode 3: The Seasons: Our young explorers go on a high-tech adventure through a souped-up seasonal simulator where they learn three things followers of Christ can learn from the seasons. Recap presented by celebrity photographer and entrepreneur Jeremy Cowart. The KEY VERSE is Ecclesiastes 3:1.

In true Owlegories form, each episode includes the opening Owlegories theme song, pertinent Bible verse corresponding with each adventure, the “Owl Pledge” and a recap of the lesson, as well as the series key saying, “God loves you, and God loves me. He gives life to all we see.”

The stories on the DVD are cute, appropriate for kids, and fun ways to teach Biblically-based lessons. The key verses chosen are encouraging, and the lessons are general enough that they don't hit any potential "hot points" doctrinally, but work to encourage young kids in their faith to trust in God at all times.

About Owlegories:
Owlegories is a new animated series and interactive digital app that teaches kids about God through the amazing things found in nature and revealed in God’s Word. Thomas Boto and his wife Julie, with the help of their four young boys, are the creators of Owlegories and the original interactive storybook app on which the animated series is based. “You can tell a lot about an artist by what he creates” is the premise behind Owlegories. Taking inspiration from the series banner verse, Psalm 19:1-4, Owlegories addresses the important theme of creation and explores the nature of God as the Creator of the Universe through the use of allegories, metaphors and analogies. The animated series, which follows a group of student owls as they travel on adventures learning about nature, faith and God, was brought to life with the help of Producer Chad Gundersen and Co-writer/Co-director Keith Alcorn, co-creator/ producer of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and executive producer of The Ant Bully.
