I recently had a chance, thanks to FlyBy Promotions, to review Phil Wickham's new CD, Children of God. This CD is both passionate and powerful.
The album starts right off with the classic Doxology, combined with a new chorus. Typically I enjoy old traditional hymns with a little bit of an update, and this was no exception. Like many worship songs, there are some that get extremely repetitive in the chorus, which is both good and bad. The good is that my young daughters can pick up the chorus right away. The bad is that sometimes it makes the songs a little bit shallow.
However, the album overall isn't shallow. Even if some songs do get a bit repetitive, overall, the CD has a great message - that we are children of God. There are upbeat songs and mellow, reflective tunes that all work together to encourage a strong worship experience in the listener.
You can buy the album from iTunes, Amazon, or Spotify.
