Book Nook: Bedtime for Sleepyhead

I recently had a chance to review Time for Bed Sleepyhead by New York Times bestselling author, physician, and double-board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen. On its surface, the book is a very pleasant, soothing book, with peaceful illustrations, to help ease kids to sleep. But it's more than that. The book is designed to help kids visualize their way to calmer sleep.

The setting incorporates going to a beach with friends, and the friends are naturally tired. However, the way the text is written, children are encouraged to actively be in the story, imagining certain images, sounds, and feelings from the day, which gives them greater ownership of the story, and eventually a more significant calming.

It was a good book, and a pleasant way to end the day with my girls!
