Red Wing is building on the
excitement of their legendary winter event, the Holiday Stroll, with their new
Yuletide Villagefest. The new weekend festival will start the same day as the
Holiday Stroll, November 25th, 2016 (the day after Thanksgiving),
and will continue the entire weekend.
Yuletide
Villagefest is a celebration during Thanksgiving weekend, featuring a village
market in Central Park and seasonal events throughout Red Wing’s historic
downtown. Yuletide Villagefest is reminiscent of traditional European holiday
villages and markets filled with traditional foods, spirits, music, gifts and
events. Tied together with Red Wing’s annual Holiday Stroll, Yuletide
Villagefest is a festive beginning to the holiday season.
“With the
ongoing success of the Holiday Stroll, we wanted to build on that excitement by
providing an event that extends the entire holiday weekend,” says Peggy Rehder,
City Council and Port Authority Board Member. “Yuletide Villagefest is a great
place for people to relax and enjoy the start to the holiday season, and also
to shop for unique Christmas gifts, most of which are being sold by local
vendors. There will be events for people of all ages to enjoy, throughout the
weekend, including holiday movies, candle-lit city walking tours, musical
events, crafts, cookie decorating, and of course the food, drink and shopping
that will be in Central Park.”
Adding
this event is a part of the City of Red Wing’s strategic plan, and is being
supported by the Red Wing Port Authority, as well as other area businesses.
