As we reach a new year, you might be looking for a book to inspire you, life you up, or help you stay balanced. Amy Newmark, current editor-in-chief for the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, combines previously published stories with her own words of wisdom and advice in Simply Happy: A Crash Course in Chicken Soup for the Soul Advice and Wisdom, a book I recently got to review.
When she first took the job nearly a decade ago, she read over 100 previous installments in the series - more than 10,000 stories - which gave her a “crash course in Chicken Soup for the Soul advice and wisdom.” This "crash course" helped her be happier, more relaxed, more compassionate, and more grateful for the
blessings in her life. Her education has continued
as a result of the tens of thousands of additional revealing, personal
stories she has read since that initial immersion.
Amy writes with honesty and humor, providing practical advice that sometimes takes less than a minute but still has a significant impact on happiness. It's a great book to read this time of year - with short stories it fits into a busy schedule, and is a heartwarming book to read.
