I recently had a chance to review The Secret Life of Lilykins
-- an adorable children's book debut from author Max Goodman. Lilykins appears like a typical housecat, but has a secret life that brings her into an adventurous world. Hunting the pigeon "small and mild" suddenly beomces "something else quite wild. She's a bright, fun, inquisitive cat that plays on children's imagination. The book has a lilting rhyme, making it even more fun to read about the adventures Lilykins has.
The book incorporates several themes - a two-dad family, treating the environment carefully, gratitude and delight in the simple things, and imagination bringing adventure into our world. It's a fun story that will delight cat loving children.
