Earlier this year I had a chance to review Miriam Laundry's I Can Be Me. It's a good book for kids to celebrate being who they are. In the book, Maria wants to fit in. But she comes from a different country, eats different food, and just has a hard time realizing she belongs (it doesn't help that her classmate makes fun of her food and its name).
As she struggles with finding her place, however, she realizes that there is something that she and her classmates all have in common - they are all different! As Maria learns to celebrate her differences, her classmates learn to celebrate her even more.
If you want a chance to win a copy of the book, leave a comment with how you learned to celebrate your own unique qualities! Deadline is January 25th.
