The new app from Toca
Boca, called Toca Lab: Plants, aims to plant seeds of interest in plant
life and gardening with our kids, and it’s just the ticket for bringing
the great outdoors inside
on rainy days, or when kids are riding in the backseat, or don’t have
easy access to outdoor play space.
There’s loads of
open-ended fun and science learning in Toca Lab: Plants as kids
experiment with plants in a botanical laboratory. They will uncover
scientifically inspired pieces of lab equipment,
five different stations and 35 all-new plant characters in an
environment designed just for them, with no in-app ads. Each station
offers tools to help kids grow and evolve their characters as they
discover the plants’ unique personalities and create new species.
In Toca Lab: Plants kids can:
- Start with one plant and experiment their way to 35 different plant characters, each with its own unique personality
- Continue to evolve existing plants through experimentation
- Evolve plants with five lab tools: grow light, watering tank, nutrition station, cloning machine and crossbreeding apparatus
- Discover plants from five groups: green algae, mosses, ferns, trees and flowering plants
- Learn the names and Latin names of real-life plants
“Toca Lab: Plants is
all about discovery” said Mårten Brüggemann, play designer at Toca Boca.
“We’ve developed each plant to be different, and the suspense of a
plant’s reaction to certain situations
will ignite kids’ sense of exploration and playfulness. We hope Toca
Lab: Plants will encourage kids to stay curious, because the curiosity
of a child is the curiosity of a scientist.”
As with all Toca Boca
apps, Toca Lab: Plants has no third-party advertising and features a
kid-friendly interface free of rules, levels or high scores. Toca Lab:
Plants will be released for
$2.99 on the App Store, Google Play and Amazon June 15.
