Exeq - a startup focused on changing the way
millennials spend - has hired Addepar’s ex-VP of Product Development as CEO leading a
team of 15 in launching their application this summer in New York City.
The app helps users set budgets and find places within NYC that fit both their taste and their
wallet -- all utilizing consumer transactional data. Long term, Exeq has goals of mapping the
everyday economy and providing value to both consumers and merchants, according to Derek
Brown.
“So many financial product offerings on the market today treat money as the end itself: where
it’s all about the numbers. I’m thoroughly excited to lead this team in finally building a product
that treats money the way that people treat money: as a means to an end. At the end of the
day, it’s all about people and experiences. Not the numbers. Money is simply the go-between
that enables us to live the lifestyles we want.”
Exeq is launching in NYC this August with a waitlist of over 25,000 people.
