Money Makers: FlexJobs Highlights 30 Companies Hiring for Flexible Schedule Jobs in 2017

Flexible schedules are one of the most preferred type of flexible work options, second only to telecommuting. In fact, 33 percent of people say they have even left their jobs because they didn’t have work flexibility. With this in mind, today FlexJobs has highlighted 30 companies that have posted the most flexible schedule jobs since the beginning of 2017.
This list is based on an analysis of over 40,000 companies and looks specifically at their flexible schedule job posting histories in FlexJobs’ database during the first five months of 2017 (January 1 through May 31). A “flexible schedule job” refers to jobs which allow workers to vary their hours and to be mostly in control of the hours they work.
“Work flexibility is not just a ‘warm and fuzzy’ benefit for workers; smart and strategic companies are also realizing that it can provide key competitive advantages for them in recruiting, retention, cost-savings, worker engagement, and company culture,” said Sara Sutton Fell, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs. “While we know that workers value having more control over where they work, many studies have also confirmed that flexible schedules make employees more productive. When you consider the benefits that flexible work arrangements bring to both employer and employee, it’s not surprising that more and more companies are embracing work environments and work schedules outside of the traditional 9-5 office mold,” Sutton Fell concluded.
Common flexible schedule job titles include project manager, editor, tutor, and graphic designer, but there are also a plenty of unexpected jobs that can be done with flexible schedules. Research scientist, operations analyst and occupational therapist are among jobs that can offer flexible schedules. Although flexible schedule jobs can be found in a number of different industries, the more popular job categories for flexible jobs are medical & health, sales, computer & IT, customer service and education & training.
Dell, Kaplan, and Toyota are among the notable companies with the most flexible schedule job listings so far in 2017.  Diverse industries are represented on this list, such as pharmaceutical, research, education, technology and communications.  Many of these companies were also top employers for remote-friendly jobs, having been included in FlexJobs’ 2017 Top 100 Companies for Remote Jobs.
Six common types of flexible schedule jobs include completely flexible schedule, alternative schedule, compressed workweek, results-only work environment, split shift, and flex time.
