World Wisdom: Swarovski

Hosted and calculated by Global Footprint Network: Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what earth can regenerate in that year. This year, Earth Overshoot Day falls on August 2, and Chamilia, a Swarovski Company, is issuing a statement in support of conservation and increasing awareness of these issues globally.

“Chamilia is a global brand that has always focused on working in renewable resources, including Swarovski stones, which are sustainably man-made and not mined from the earth,” said Chamilia Vice President, Global Merchandising and Marketing Catherine Ottaviano. “Thankfully, fine jewelry is not a disposable commodity. But as a Swarovski Company, we continue to grow in our ability to increase our awareness of sustainable practices and document our ability to implement these standards.”

Chamilia is compliant with the Swarovski Responsible Sourcing Factory Program, which states:

“As a responsible company with global outreach, we have adopted policies to deliver increased reliability, quality and productivity throughout our supply chain. Our Responsible Sourcing Initiative focuses on human rights, labour and environmental standards in our supply chain management by monitoring of labour and environmental standards and strengthening of supplier relations.”
