Consumer Critique: Daily Sunshine Nutrition Shake

When my daughters were younger, one had major texture sensitivities and the other was extremely stubborn when it came to food (I'm talking refusing to eat for several meals in a row until she got an upset stomach), so we had to get creative when it came to ensuring adequate nutrient intake. We combined extended nursing, creative mixing of foods, and nutritional shakes to make sure that they would still develop in a healthy way.

Fortunately, our kids are now normal eaters, although occasionally it's nice to have an option to supplement their diet, for example if we're traveling or camping and they haven't been eating well, or if they've recovered from a digestive upset and we want to make sure we restore nutrients once they're healthy.

I had the opportunity to try out a new nutritional shake for kids. Beachbody just launched their first nutrition shake developed specifically for children, but tastes good enough for all ages, called Daily Sunshine!
Beachbody, leading fitness and nutrition provider and creator of popular at-home workout programs like P90X, Insanity, and 21 Day Fix as well as the complete nutrition shake calledShakeology, launched Daily Sunshine to help children meet all their nutritional needs, hence its nickname -- the 3 in 1 smoothie.

My husband was admittedly surprised when the Beachbody box showed up - he is often skeptical of some of those kinds of nutrition or workout companies. But once he realized what it was, he was on board. The shakes have all of the nutrients kids need in a great-tasting shake. My kids liked it best when I used super cold milk (I ended up freezing some cubes of milk so that it would keep it chilled as they were drinking), but it also worked with plain water and non-dairy milk beverages (we tried it with soy and rice milk).

It's not necessarily something I'd use all the time, since my kids are overall good eaters, but it's nice to have as an option to supplement their diet.
