Fun Freetime: Peg & Cat - The Mariachi Problem

Uno, dos, tres, cuatro!

Exciting news amigos! On September 15, the curtain will go up on “The Mariachi Problem,” a  brand-new episode of Peg + Catthe multiple Emmy-winning series produced by The Fred Rogers Company.  The special episode stars the internationally-acclaimed Latin Grammy-nominated musicians Mariachi Flor de Toloache, an amaaaaazing all-women mariachi band.

In the exciting new episode, which premieres on PBS KIDS, the seven members of Mariachi Flor de Toloache play themselves in their first-ever animated appearance and sing original counting songs as they help Cat serenade his lady love, Rosana, on a fun road trip to Mexico.



This episode is a fantástico way to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, too, which also begins on September 15.

Peg + Cat follows the adorable, spirited Peg and her loyal sidekick Cat as they embark on a host of hilarious, musical adventures, learning foundational math concepts along the way. Each episode features engaging stories in which Peg and Cat encounter a problem that requires them to use math and problem-solving skills to move the story forward. The series provides young viewers with a new way to experience math and highlights its importance in a variety of everyday situations. Music is used as a teaching tool throughout the show, and each episode features an original song.

In addition to Mariachi Flor de Toloache, prima ballerina Misty Copeland made a guest appearance on the show and Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) played the President of the United States. Peg + Cat has also featured animated versions of icons including Billie Holiday, Beethoven, Emily Dickinson, Einstein, George Washington, Marie Curie and more!
