Parenting Pointers: Encouraging an Attitude of Gratitude

With the holidays fast approaching, everyone is in gift guide mode and what the hot new toys are this holiday season, but maybe as parents, we need to stop and take a breath and help our kids realize what the holidays are truly about.

With all the "me, me, me's" of the holiday season, let's help our kids practice a newattitude of gratitude. Gratitude is like a muscle that needs to be flexed on a daily basis, and  Q Wunder from EQtainment is on a mission to improve kids social and emotional skills through entertaining games, books and our new Q Wunder show and app.

Parents and educators love the way EQtainment’s products help kids develop self-awareness, manners, problem solving, empathy, responsibility, grit and more. Kids just love that they’re so much fun! EQtainment has also developed one of the first measurement tools designed to help parents identify and improve their children’s social and emotional skills with customized content delivered via our Q Wunder app.

So to help parents show their kids how to be a little more grateful this holiday season, here's the Q Wunder thankfulness workout plan from founder, Sofia Dickens
1. Thank all day long! Show your kids what a grateful heart looks like by thanking out loud throughout the day. Say "that was so kind of Daddy to give me the last bite"; "I'm so grateful we have a warm bed to sleep in"; and "thanks for smiling at me when you walked in- that made me feel really good!"

2. Thank people on video! Make a habit out of communicating your thanks when others have been kind and generous. Have your kids thank a grandparent for a gift, thank an aunt for some hand-me-downs, or thank their dad for taking them to the park. Video messages are always appreciated, not to mention irresistibly cute!

3. Spread the love! Challenge your kids to do a kind deed for every day of December. No need to craft or volunteer for this one, just take a moment to focus on others every day. Whether it's something as small as tying your sister's shoelaces, rescuing a lady bug, or holding the door for an elderly woman, the purpose is to make kindness and "otherness" a daily habit.

And Q Wunder provides a fantastic Parents Corner with tips, advice and suggestions on helping your kids with emotions, skills and relationships.

Show your support by sharing on social media with the hashtag:#wundermom

For shows, pop songs, and fun games to hone that attitude of gratitude, along with many other life skills, download the Q Wunder app this holiday season!
