Book Nook: The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is traditionally thought of as a Christmas story, as it revolves around a Christmas present, but this timeless classic is appropriate any time of year. The version I recently got to review,  The Story Orchestra: The Nutcracker, introduces kids to the sounds of the ballet as well, with excerpts from "The Dance of the Reed Flutes," "The Waltz of Flowers," and "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy."

The story is great for both boys and girls, with excitement, battle, imagination, beauty, and more. The illustrations have a charming, vintage feel, full of bright colors and detail as Clara and the Nutcracker explore together.
