Healthy Habits: Essential Oils for the Health of Your Family

Everyday life is hard enough as it is, but throw kids into the mix and it can be downright overwhelming at times. It is important to do everything you can to take care of yourself and your family
Essential oils offer a budget friendly, safe, and natural way to combat many ailments we face on a daily basis. Keep in mind that if you are applying essential oils to the skin they must be diluted with a carrier oil first.
Here are some of the best oils for moms and families:

Lavender – One of the best things for everyone is a good night’s sleep. Sleep helps maintain the body’s immune system, reduces stress levels, and gives you more energy to check off that never ending to do list. Lavender has a calming aroma and is great as a perfume or as aromatherapy in the home to calm nerves and reduce stress, day or night. It is also said to balance emotions in toddlers.
Peppermint – Peppermint oil has several beneficial uses. It can be put on the wrist or temples as a pick me up or to relieve a headache, but what’s more, it is great for focus. If your kids are having trouble focusing on their homework, try a couple of drops of peppermint oil at the temples.
Lemon – Not only does lemon have a great, clean, citrus scent, it is also great for masking bad odors, cleaning, and works as a stellar mood booster. Invigorating lemon can also be mixed with lavender and peppermint and diffused to support a healthy respiratory system. We all know kids bring home all sorts of germs and bacteria, this mixture is a great way to keep them breathing easy.
Tea Tree Oil – Tea tree oil is very potent and great for the skin. Have a break out due to stress or poor eating? Put some tea tree oil on a cotton swab and apply to breakout nightly before bed. Tea tree oil also holds anti-bacterial properties and can be combined with lemon for cleaning.

Countless more oils that can be used to benefit a hard-working mom and family. These are some of the tried and true and most widely used. Essential Oils are a great way to offer preventative support to you and your family while staying natural, healthy, and budget friendly.
