Consumer Critique: Sneakz

My kids used to be incredibly picky. One was very texture-sensitive, one was very stubborn - she was the first kid I know who defied the "If they're hungry enough, they'll eat" advice. She was at the bottom of the chart in weight (virtually no weight gain in over two years, which thankfully was not more serious because at 6 months she had been at the top of the chart). Even foods she liked she'd only eat a few bites of. With both of them, we had to be creative and selective to maximize nutrition with the foods they'd eat.

While I'm not an advocate for long term "sneaky" cooking, where foods are hidden in other foods, I do think it's an excellent way to bridge the gap for nutrition. We put many different kinds of vegetable purees in "banana bread," gave them fruit-filled smoothies when they wanted ice cream (strawberries and bananas pureed together with a little yogurt), and other tricks to increase the nutrition of what they would eat.

I had a chance to review a product that would've been a big help during that time. Sneakz Organic provides milkshakes and a protein powder mix that contain a half-serving of organic, nutrient-rich veggies, as well as protein and vitamins. They come in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. They don't contain artificial flavors, colors, or preservative, and are suitable for those following non-GMO, Kosher, or Gluten-free diets.

My kids liked the taste. In fact, the strawberry was their favorite - and I loved how easy it was to mix in a smoothie or with plain yogurt. The chocolate and the vanilla could be used in baking as well.

Purchase the powder at Sneakz.com for $21 per bag, and the milkshakes are available at mass retailers and grocers such as Amazon, Walmart and Sprouts, as well as Sneakz.com. A 4-pack of milkshakes is $6.99, and the 6-pack is $10.80.
