This book's title is inspired by Jules Verne's novel and geared for kids in early elementary grades. However, the puzzles and illustrations will be enjoyed by those younger or older (the puzzles are entertaining enough to keep my sixth-grader occupied for quite some time). It's a sturdy book so it will hold up to road trips. Themes include all sorts of transportation - planes, trains, steamships and more. Each puzzle has one main goal, whether it's a maze or other type of puzzle, and then another question to solve when the main puzzle is done. Aleksandra Artymowska has done a beautiful job capturing the themes of the original novel in a book that will keep kids busy and provide great quiet entertainment that can be taken anywhere.
This was a lot of fun for me to look at. My family loves to travel and we've visited several major cities around the globe. It was a lot of fun to see one of our destinations - Berlin - featured in the book, and it was also great to learn about cities we've never visited before. A wide variety of locations around the globe are included, so it's a fun way to learn or dream of future plans. The bold illustrations are eye-catching, and the intriguing facts go in-depth enough that even seasoned travelers will learn something new. This book by James Brown is targeted to early elementary grades, but I even enjoyed reading it as an adult.
