Book Nook: Love Big

Valentine's Day was last week, but that doesn't mean it's time to stop thinking about love and what that means - especially for little kids. I recently had a chance to review Love Big, a charming and quirky story about what it means to love others, even if they aren't in your family.

Love Big takes readers on an adventure through an African savanna, which has turned dry and desolate. Each animal begins to look only after his or her own interests, while Baboon watches his friends act selfishly instead of seeking cooperation. Then Baboon witnesses an act of love, and decides to encourage his friends to work together to save their home.

For little kids who love jungle animals, this is a great book to show the power of working together, and helps reinforce the idea that love is a bond we can share with friends as well as family members.
