A new year is a chance to start fresh and evaluate how we want to improve our lives. Those in Community Impact at Comcast NBCUniversal are always thinking about how they can better strengthen efforts to help others, and their commitment to improving communities is as unwavering as ever. This month they celebrated National Mentoring Month. Mentorship reflects the core values of the company culture – not just in developing their own talent, but extending their reach in communities through partnerships with schools, community-based organizations and nonprofit organizations nationwide.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and Comcast NBCUniversal share the common vision and goal of positioning young people for success. Last fall, they reached an incredible milestone as we celebrated 10 years since the launch of the Beyond School Walls program, which brings local students into their offices around the country where they are matched with mentors. In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters and through the support of employee mentors, they have helped to transform the lives of over 1,300 students.
From connecting more than 6 million low-income Americans to high-speed internet at home through Comcast’s Internet Essentials program, to contributing more than $100 million to United Way to provide individuals with the basic needs of food, education and housing, they know that they cannot help communities without incredible partners.You can read more about their recent milestones and how they impact communities.
