Robert Gebbia, CEO of The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, requested permission to use his song as their main theme song for Suicide Prevention Week and its message during Mental Health Awareness Month. “Alex Boyé’s personal story and commitment to use his music to carry messages of hope and awareness for those struggling with mental illness and considering suicide has made him an official advocate by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention,” shares Gebbia. “We are honored that he’s created “Bend Not Break” as a source of comfort for those considering suicide and the multitudes of people dealing with mental health issues.”
In mid-April and leading into Mental Health Awareness Month (May), Boyé will also be embarking on a national tour carrying a message of hope and awareness to young people and teens struggling with mental illness and considering suicide. The tour aligns with The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention’s #realconvos campaign during which Boyé, will bring #realconvos to high school, non-profits/community organizations who have partnered with his Bend Not Break Foundation. On April 25th, Boye will be honored with the 2019 Erase The Stigma Leadership Award presented by the Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services Agency on April 25th.
