Parenting Pointers: Ways to Look Put Together in Under 5 Minutes

Being a mom is definitely not easy. In some days, you wake up early and still have time to do your morning routine and steal a few moments for self-care while your kids are still asleep. In some other days, however, you scramble off all morning trying to be a mom to your kids, prepare meals, and still try so hard to get yourself ready for another full day at work feeling like your best self.

During those latter days, it’s definitely tempting to just go out of the house with no care about how you’re presenting yourself to the world and what other people think of how you look. The thing is, if there’s a will, there’s got to be a way as well to still get out of the house looking and feeling good.

If you’re a mom and you’re looking for ways to look like you actually took time to get ready in the morning, we’ve come up with these five things you can do to look more put together in 5 minutes or less.

Always Have a Go-to Look in Mind
It’s always helpful to have a go-to look that you can depend on whenever there’s not enough time to mix and match pieces from your closet. An example could be your classic denim jeans, white top, and printed blazer. For some, it could be a dress or a jumpsuit that could instantly make them look put together without taking too much effort or time.

The point is that you can easily just grab these go-to wardrobe pieces from your closet and you’re good to go! Additionally, if you want to look more put together as a mom, you also need to choose undergarments that support and lift your breasts. Moms (especially if they are still breastfeeding) are going to have naturally larger and sagging breasts so pick a bra that is specifically meant for this. It won’t take any extra time to put it on, but it will help you look more put-together!

Have an Easy Backup Makeup Routine
You are not required to do a full face makeup with perfect contours and gorgeous smoky eyes just for you to look put together. For starters, here are some things you can add in your easy backup makeup routine.
  • Tinted moisturizer or foundation to get your skin tone more even
  • Mascara to make your eyes pop
  • Brow gel to make your brows look more polished
  • Lipstick or tinted gloss to give your lips some shine
Do Accessorize
Some people think accessories are not a big deal simply because they’re only considered add-ons in outfits. However, they can completely elevate an outfit and make you look like you spent a long time getting ready.

Accessorizing and choosing your own statement jewelry or handbag goes a long way. As a mom, you might not have a lot of time to decide on what accessory to use every day so it’s important that you have that one that helps you stand out. Find a neutral colored bag that can go with multiple outfits (bonus points if it doubles as a diaper bag!).

Pick Your Statement Shoes
Classic pointed heels or flats that are black or nude in color is the usual choice for many women simply because they are classy and elegant at the same time.

However, in choosing your statement shoes that will serve as your default when you’re hurrying to go out of the house already, you’ll have to consider two things. First, they have to be sophisticated enough that you can wear with any outfit. Second, they must be comfortable enough for you and make you feel confident while wearing them.

Master a Simple Hairstyle
It can be tempting to disregard doing your hair when you just can’t find the time to work on it. There are many hairstyles that don’t require any iron or curler though!

Some options could be a full and tousled high ponytail, braids, French twists, and top knots. There are so many options for you to choose from, and mastering at least one will help you look like you spent 20 minutes on your hair (even if it only took a couple minutes)!
Conclusion
It’s really all about resourcefulness. These tips are proof that it is definitely possible for you, as a mom, to look well-prepped and put together in just a few minutes. Even if you can’t do all of these ideas in one day, pick a couple to focus on before you go out.
