Several years ago, I read a powerful book called Margin: Restoring Emotional, Physical, Financial, and Time Reserves to Overloaded Lives. In the same vein (and a book which actually quotes that book) is Take the Day Off by Robert Morris.
I had a chance to review this book, and I already agreed with a lot of what was said - that as a society, we need to relax. I enjoyed the confirmation of this from a Biblical perspective. I also liked how the book brought in real-life examples of Sabbath or sabbaticals and the effect it's had.
Beyond just relaxing, though, the book also devotes time to our four tanks (such as spiritual and physical) and how we need to make sure that we are restoring ourselves in a way that will keep us balanced.
If you feel like life has just gotten away from you, this is a great book to encourage you to take some time and enjoy the Sabbath rest.
