Although my kids are long past the baby/toddler stage, it's still interesting to review books to see what tips and wisdom has come up since my kids were young. I had the chance to review For What It's Worth: A Perspective on How to Thrive and Survive Parenting Ages 0-2.
I liked the title - acknowledging, in a way, that it is just a perspective. I also liked the the mention of thriving, not just surviving.
The book isn't long, but manages to pack a lot into its pages. It tackles topics many books do (sleep deprivation, baby blues, and communication with a partner) but also approaches topics often overlooked (comparison, diverse families, sex drive). It's a holistic approach that focuses on the parent, not just on tactics for raising kids.
This wouldn't be the only parenting book you'd want - you'd want a practical guide for some of the nitty-gritty things. But this would be a good book to help new parents remember that there is a life beyond just taking care of baby, and that part of being a good parent is taking care of your own needs.
