Book Nook: Indestructibles®

Babies love to use books in non-traditional ways - tugging, tearing, pulling, folding, chewing, squeezing - pretty much anything except reading for some babies! I was curious and intrigued by the chance to review Indestructibles® from Workman Publishing. These books are chew-proof, rip-proof, nontoxic, and washable.

I really liked them. I tried to tear them, and couldn't. When I folded the pages, you could barely tell where I had tried to crease them. I got them wet, and they dried off just fine without the pages sticking together. These are great options for first books for kids - parents don't have to take them away because they aren't treating them right, they can just enjoy having a book and looking at the pictures however it fits before learning how to treat books appropriate. Even for older toddlers and young kids who treat books well, they're great for in the car or on trips where they might get banged up a little more.

There are several titles in the series.

Baby, See the Colors!
Baby, Let's Count!
Baby, Find the Shapes!
Hanukkah Baby

The bright illustrations, simple text, and engaging pictures make these excellent first books for the youngest pre-readers.
