Why did you start byKikarose?
When my mother passed away, I found myself needing something to do with my hands that would engage my brain and allow me to get through the worst of the grief. I'd always wanted to try my hand at jewelry making so I ordered a book, a few tools, and some supplies and got to work. Starting an Etsy store seemed like the logical next step. Starting an essential oil jewelry subscription box an even more logical one after that since it perfectly merged my passion for aromatherapy and my newly discovered love of jewelry making.
What is your favorite part about putting together the Essential byKikarose box?
When I put together Essentials byKikarose boxes I like to imagine that I'm putting together a few of my favorite things for a friend. I adore using my (rather extensive) stash of essential oils to create ointments, lotions, sugar scrubs and other more healthy replacements to everyday products. Sending them out with the prettiest of the jewelry pieces I can create makes me feel like I'm sending a little piece of myself out to the world.
What do you like about creating the jewelry?
I love that there are so many ways to create jewelry. I can draw inspiration from a wide range of sources and let my imagination run wild. But, to be honest, my favorite part is that I feel like a little kid playing with beads again. I think that's why so many of my pieces are so whimsical. I'll never get tired of seeing different beads and instantly knowing exactly how they should come together.
How can people find jewelry that makes great gifts for others?
There are so many great jewelry options available today. The Etsy search engine is really well designed, so the ideal way to find the perfect piece for a friend is to think about what colors look good on them and what they're passionate about and search for a combination of the two!
