Soul Sustenance: Books to Inspire Self-Care

I recently had a chance to see a variety of books from Mango publishing on the theme self-care. With so many titles available, there's something for everyone!

Listify: List and Journal Your Way to Balance, Self-Discovery, and Self-Care by Marina Greenway
Lists help us to remember our tasks, round up the cool movies and books we’ve been wanting to check out, plan our self-care routines, and more. List-writing activities can calm us, let us explore our memories, and get all of those things-to-remember on paper. With dozens of lists, journal prompts, and quotes to keep you inspired, Listify invites you to flex this superpower and takes you on a journey of self-exploration. This book is a unique approach to journaling - in list format. If you've ever been intimidated by the idea of writing out journals, or you're the kind of person who finds peace in lists, this is a great book for you. View this book on Amazon!
The Lighten Up Book: Affirmations and Insights to Inspire Health and Happiness by Allen Klein
Allen Klein is the world's only "Jollytologist" (which is a word I love - and which I can totally see in my daughter). In The Lighten Up Book, he has gathered his favorite wise words to help readers power their lives with the positive. We have all weathered a lot of storms . We all need reminders of what we truly value in our life – family, friendship, community, leadership, service, helping others. This book is inspirational and instructive, with meaningful sayings and quotes that can provide a dose of happiness. It can be read for a positive message, used as a daily meditation, or in any other way that readers see fit. View this book on Amazon!
Hug Therapy: A 21-Day Journey to Embracing Yourself, Your Life, and Everyone Around You by Dr. Stone Kraushaar
I love hugs, so I loved reading this book. Hugs help immunity, stress, sleep - even brain growth.  Hug Therapy shares a full-on, unconditional hug from Dr. Stone, a.k.a. The Hug Doctor™. In this book, he invites you to wrap your arms around yourself, your life, and everyone around you in a whole new way. A good embrace―a hug―squeezes every ounce of fear, worry, and negativity out of your spirit, leaving you with nothing but warmth, inner peace, and a feeling of connection. It's a fun book to read, whether or not you love to hug! View this book on Amazon!
The Buddha's Guide to Gratitude: The Life-changing Power of Everyday Mindfulness by Becca Anderson
According to Buddha, “You have no cause for anything but gratitude and joy.” As it turns out, Buddha had quite a lot to say on the subject of gratitude, including citing it as one of the four keys to the Gate of Heaven.  Being thankful is one of the most powerful tools we humans have to attain peace of mind and a measure of happiness. This is a book that can help you discover the importance of gratitude, no matter what your spiritual background is. Get this book on Amazon!
Postcards to the Universe: Harness the Universe’s Power and Manifest Your Dreams by Melisa Caprio
This is an interesting book, with the idea that you can combine art and your desires to ask the Universe for what you want. While it isn't something I completely get behind (I don't think the Universe is an ATM, or the world would be quite different), I can see the idea and the success of positive thinking, to some extent (but you have to be open to the ways that your desires might come true in unexpected ways). Caprio is here to foster that state of mindfulness and spirituality through photography, postcard art, written messages, and affirmations from others who are living their greatest desires. Your Life is Your Prayer: Wake Up to the Spiritual Power in Everything You Do by BJ Gallagher and Sam Beasley
You may not realize it, but the decisions you make throughout the day, the attitudes you adopt, the conversations you have, the way you respond to other people, and the thoughts you think are all prayers. This is an interesting book to read, depending on your spiritual perspective. Your Life is Your Prayer by BJ Gallagher and Sam Beasley will show you how to do just that. View this book on Amazon!
