I recently had a chance to review The 30-Minute Money Plan for Moms. This book lays out its purpose right away in the introduction - as an alternative to money-saving tips that aren't worth the time, and as an alternative to hard-to-understand financial planning books.
The book serves its purpose well. As a fairly frugal mom myself, there weren't really any new tips in the book for me. However, there were a lot of features I liked, and if I were a newer parent or struggled more with my finances, this book would have been extremely helpful.
I liked how the book focused on tips that were manageable. For example, instead of couponing, the author uses strategies that save both time and money. She lays out what kinds of things offer the most money-saving for minimal effort. In the second section, there are basics about getting a handle on your finances and debt load - these tips weren't earth-shattering or new to me, but for a younger family, they are easy to act on and implement.
It's a great book for young adults who are just starting a family, to help ensure setting up a good financial foundation without going crazy trying to nitpick every dime.
If you're looking for other great ways to make financial progress, you can consider doing cash surveys - if you do them wisely, you can make fairly decent money for something you can do in the hour after your kids go to bed (that's my approach to it). You can also save by checking out Swagbucks' online coupons - they feature many great deals like SheIn coupons, One Hanes Place coupons, and other deals and promo codes. Every little bit helps, especially when it's so easy to do!
