Book Nook: Jingle Jangle - The Invention of Jeronicus Jangle and The Square Root of Possible - A Jingle Jangle Story

THE SQUARE ROOT OF POSSIBLE: A Jingle Jangle Story (picture book, ages 4-8) and  JINGLE JANGLE: The Invention of Jeronicus Jangle (middle grade, ages 8-12) are based on Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, the #1 must see Netflix holiday film written and directed by David E. Talbert. It stars Forest Whitaker, Keegan-Michael Key, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Ricky Martin, Hugh Bonneville, and introducing Madalen Mills as Journey. Featuring original music by John Legend, Philip Lawrence, Davy Nathan, and Michael Diskint. Written by producer Lyn Sisson-Talbert and writer and director David E. Talbert, these two books take readers on a magical Christmas adventure with the eccentric toymaker, Jeronicus Jangle, and his precocious granddaughter. The film’s companion soundtrack, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (Music from The Netflix Original Motion Picture) via Atlantic records, includes the book’s title track, “Square Root of Possible”—performed by the film’s breakout star, Madalen Mills.

In the heartwarming picture book, THE SQUARE ROOT OF POSSIBLE: A Jingle Jangle Story, Journey is told by her mother that she and her grandfather, Jeronicus Jangle, are very much alike. They share the same gift and fervor for math, but when Journey meets him for the first time, she discovers the magic he had for equations and solving problems is gone. Eager to help, Journey is determined to solve this problem, because doing so will equal finding her grandfather’s joy.

In the charming middle grade novel, JINGLE JANGLE: The Invention of Jeronicus Jangle, the grandfather-granddaughter pair make and sell whimsical toys together — until things start to go wrong.  Christmas is endangered when Jeronicus’ trusted apprentice, Gustufson, steals a prized creation. With the help of a long-forgotten invention and a bit of magic, the town’s most famous toymaker and his granddaughter construct a magical invention which, if they can get it to work in time for the holidays, could change their lives forever.
