Caring Causes: Magnetic Me and Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children

 

Magnetic fastening clothing innovator Magnetic Me announced an ongoing philanthropic partnership with Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, with their first initiative: a donation of a year’s supply of first outfits for all Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Cardiac ICU (CICU) patients at the hospital.

Magnetic Me representatives, including co-founder Lauren Levy, began meeting with Dr. Jay Greenspan, MD, and Dr. Elizabeth O’Donnell, MD of Nemours Hospital in October 2020 and instantly saw the potential for a partnership. “Babies in specialized hospital units often have to wear pulse oximeters around their feet, and a traditional zippered onesie can’t accommodate the wires,” explains Levy. “Magnetic Me’s signature magnetic closures allow the wires to seamlessly flow through without obstruction—plus, they make quick changes and check-ups that much easier.”

Levy traveled to Wilmington on February 10th for a socially distanced meeting to get to know the Nemours team, learn about the patient and parent experiences, and make the donation in person. Each baby treated in either the NICU or CICU in 2021 will receive a Magnetic Me outfit featuring the brand’s signature magnetic closures, curated prints, and soft, sustainable fabric.   “It was truly enlightening to learn about what a baby—and their parents—go through when they can’t leave the hospital right away,” says Levy. “We’re so impressed with all the Nemours team accomplishes every day, especially during a global pandemic, and we couldn’t be happier to support the ‘first outfit milestone’ for these babies and their families.”   Magnetic Me is excited to get this first initiative off the ground and looks forward to building its partnership with Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in the months and years to come.
