I recently had a chance to review Kill the Noise, written by Ryan Ries, co-founder of The Whosoevers movement. The book was written to help young adults who are surrounded by noise - not always audible noise, but noise from social media, expectations, bullying, relationships, and more.
I have two daughters, and I'm beginning to see how, even though they don't have the same influences on their lives that some people do, they are already starting to sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the noise of daily life. As parents, their father and I do our best to help them stay focused on who they are in God's eyes. It's a messy world, and it's hard to do.
This book is written specifically for younger generations to help them learn to focus on God's voice above all the other influences of the world. It's written by someone who lost his way - raised by a pastor, but still succumbing to the noise of alcohol and drugs in a worldly culture, instead of finding a way to follow passions while still being centered on God. Because of the author's experience, the book is real and relevant, not super preachy. It's best for young adults who are having a hard time discerning God's voice in their world.
