I recently had a chance to see several books from the Who Was? series. My kids have always enjoyed these boos, even though they're a little older now. The books are written in a style that is perfect for middle grades, and the reading level is appropriate even for more reluctant readers. They have a huge catalog, so there are books that will appeal to nearly every kids' interest - and they're a good way for kids to learn more about historical figures.
They have more than just regular paperbacks, too - they also have board books, graphic novels, workbooks, and even a Netflix series! The books are all factual and accurate (as far as I've been able to tell) and they provide a little more in-depth look than some figures get in a typical history book - for my kids, with some of the books, they acted a springboard for even deeper research.
The Who Was? book series began in 2002 with the publication of just four books. Since then, it has evolved into a brand encompassing over 250 titles across paperbacks, board books, graphic novels, educational workbooks, a Daytime Emmy-winning Netflix original series, and more. With more than 50 million books in print worldwide, it’s now the #1 nonfiction series for middle-grade readers; every 13 seconds, a Who HQ book is sold.
