I recently had a chance to sample some Fiji Joe Turmeric. It was fun to be able to sample this, because I honestly didn't cook a lot with turmeric and it encouraged me to broaden my repertoire.
Turmeric by itself has an interesting flavor. It's described as earthy-sweet, but also bitter, or peppery with hints of ginger - there are a lot of different words to describe its taste. It definitely adds depth to a variety of dishes - I've used it on chicken and in meatballs, and my family liked both. It's used in a lot of Asian recipes as well, and Fiji Joe has more recipes and ideas.
Turmeric is a spice that is medicinal in nature as well - as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, it has many potential health benefits.
Fiji Joe is set apart from some turmeric brands in that it's organic and uses sustainable farming practices, working with small Fijian farms. That's definitely something worth supporting!
