Contest: Cut the Fiscal Fat

74% of teens aren’t confident about their financial education and Jeremy Shockey, 2 time Super Bowl winner (XLII with the New York Giants and XLIV with the New Orleans Saints) has officially endorsed Cut The Fiscal Fat and their mission to reach 1 million teens by the end of 2022. Cut the Fiscal Fat is a mom-owned business educating kids on financial education to help end poverty and economic disparity with a GoFundMe goal of 1 million kids by the end of 2022. Megan DeCrosta, a licensed NYS life, accident, and health insurance broker, pivoted her career in order to become a certified financial education instructor and develop the financial literacy curriculum “Need To Know Life Guide (Level 1),” spotlighting the importance of financial literacy and decreasing the divide of financial inequality in the US, encouraging youth to take the financial future into their own hands with self-education.

Jeremy and his older brother were raised by a single mother who at times struggled to pay the family’s bills. After his years of hard work and perseverance, he went on to become the highest paid tight end in professional football.

Cut the Fiscal Fat partnered with the BGCCA (Boys & Girls Clubs of Capital Area) to $10/teen to $1/teen per donation. Working with James Bulmer, Director of Resource Development, the course and program will be introduced to the New York State Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs to get community access serving teens and young adults. Steve Figueroa, Director of the Workforce Development Program at the Troy Clubhouse location is available for interviews.

DeCrosta says, “Students are clearly not receiving the financial education they so desperately need before they are inundated with student loans and credit cards. Cut The Fiscal Fat is here to combat income inequality by equipping teens and young adults with financial literacy.”

The company is raising awareness for financial literacy education by having young adults submit videos explaining WHY money knowledge matters to them, giving away $1,000 on TikTok, and $1,000 on Instagram
