There are several things I consider when looking for a sports bra - how it fits, what it feels like, and what it costs. I'm not going to find a bra just because it's the cheapest - a lot of times those bras don't hold up. They get saggy or lose support, or they start falling apart at the seems or feel flimsy. But I don't need a super expensive bra either. Most of my bras are somewhere in the middle ground in terms of price.
My older daughter is very texture sensitive, and that extends to apparel. So we look for sports bras that are primarily cotton or have a cotton liner all the way around the inside of the bra. She also likes bras where the seam is barely noticeable, or there isn't any seam at all, like the revolution sports braThose feel much better against her skin. We also like bras that give us support, but don't squish and compress.
One thing I like is when I can find a bra that fits well, but also has wider-set straps. This gives me more flexibility for what tops I can use when I'm wearing it, since I don't always like it when my bra straps show. The color helps with that too - I tend to choose neutrals, primarily lighter colors, since they don't show up as much under tops (including white or light t-shirts). Darker solids are ok, but I pretty much never wear bras with patterns.
When it comes to fit, some people really like to look for an adjustable strap sports bra. This is a really good idea, especially for people who have a longer or shorter torso than the average sports bra is designed for.
