Book Nook: Maddison's Tree Magic

An instant hit with readers, Roger Cotton hits the spot with his delightful tale of ten year old Maddison and her newly bestowed magical powers.

Basing his heroine on his eldest granddaughter of the same name, the author not only delivers a strong female protagonist but weaves in educational elements, humour and morals, all of which make for a more substantive and fulfilling read.

Whilst written for youngsters (up to age 10), reviews confirm Maddison has also captured the imagination and hearts of both parents and grandparents, all of whom will be delighted to learn that this first time author has a further five adventures in store for his enchanting protagonist.

Synopsis:

Maddison is transported to a magical world, where on her tenth birthday her dad hands down his mystical pendant, making her the new Keeper of Tree Magic. Now gifted with animal powers, and guided by Sage, an ageless owl, she is sent via a portal tree to rescue, help, and save animals whenever she is needed. When the heroine, Maddison, encounters an animal to harness their unique abilities, her eyes immediately change to match that animal’s identically and only transform back when she relinquishes their powersMaddison must strive to live in both worlds with her new abilities, bringing amazing and sometimes, hilarious, results.

About the author:

Roger Cotton has been married for over 35 years. With three adult sons and three grandchildren. The book Maddison’s Tree Magic is based on his eldest grandchild, Maddison, forged by their love of animals and woodlands on their many outings.

Roger says: “After working from the age of 15, I found myself unfortunately becoming my wife’s carer after she received back damage due to a car accident.

“Now only working part time to care for my wife, I started writing Maddison’s Tree Magic, my first book. I teamed up with my daughter-in-law, Tiffani Deakin, who used her talent of art, to bring the story alive with her illustrations. I am planning another five books to carry Maddison’s Tree Magic adventures to their conclusion. I am also writing an adult novel, called Between Worlds.
