Enriching Education - EQuip Kids+

Equip Our Kids! the national advocacy organization promoting emotional intelligence (EQ) and related life skills for all children, has launched EQuip Kids+ , a free new video streaming service for families.   Easily accessed from any device connected to the internet, EQuip Kids+ offers engaging, age-appropriate short videos on a wide range of topics, all designed to help children and parents manage emotions, build healthy relationships, develop resilience and lead happier, healthier lives.

 

The videos, both live action and animated, are divided into age categories 2-4, 5-8, 9-13, 14-18 and Parents. All are grounded in evidence-based principles of emotional intelligence and social-emotional learning and speak to children’s and parents’ needs for help in managing their feelings, behaviors and relationships.

 

Jay Levin, president of Equip Our Kids! explains, “We’re bringing EQuip Kids+ to families at a time of intense interest in children’s emotions and feelings. You can see it in the rapid global success of Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.” Released in mid-June, “Inside Out 2” is already Pixar’s highest-grossing movie of all time and in the top 25 highest grossing films of all time in the worldwide box office.

 

EquipOurKids.org for six years has advocated for emotional intelligence and social emotional learning (SEL) skills to be taught to all children in schools and more recently in all homes. Research consistently demonstrates that when SEL skills are taught and supported alongside academic skills, students do measurably better, and schools are safer. Employers also seek out emotional intelligence when hiring because these skills help businesses thrive. Emotionally intelligent employees are not only more productive; they’re also better as both leaders and team members.
