Money Matters - Stocking Stuffer Budgets

As we move into the thick of holiday season, parents everywhere are scrambling to find the perfect gifts for their children. And they will do everything they can to make sure their kids are happy – even if it means spending more than necessary. Curious to see how stocking stuffer habits match up to the true wishlists of recipients, Thrive Causemetics surveyed 2,250 respondents across 46 states in the past month. At a glance, this is what they found:

  • Most states said that they would prefer cash or gift cards this year, with New Hampshire being the exception and requesting candy or food items as a priority instead.

  • 55% percent of respondents specifically set a budget of over $20 per stocking, while an additional 15% do not set a budget at all!

  • When it comes to non-cash wish list items, 15 states favored skincare and cosmetics over traditional picks like candy, snacks, or lottery tickets.

It seems that Santa may have his work cut out for him this year, with expectations rising for what we will all find in our stockings on Christmas morning. Check out the full survey insights
