Consumer Critique - Swanson Health

 Swanson Health is a company that makes vitamins and supplements for a variety of health needs. My younger kid is a pretty intense athlete, so I had the opportunity to try out one of their protein powders and hydration powders.

The Simply Hydrate Electrolyte Hydration Mix - Variety Pack was a great option for us. I like the variety of flavors - raspberry lemonade, orange, watermelon, lemon lime, and berry blast. The formula is sugar-free and has electrolytes, vitamin B12, and taurine. Electrolytes are designed to help your body after exercise, and we'll often use electrolyte drinks when we need extra fluids due to illness also. The flavors weren't too sweet - they were the perfect level of tart and flavor to be refreshing but not overwhelming.

Chocolate is a popular flavor in our house, so the protein powder I was able to pick was the real food whey protein - chocolate ice cream. It was delicious. The flavor was rich, sweet but not overly so, and tasted great on its own. It also was a great addition to smoothies, and even made a good ice cream topper. The protein powder has 22 g of protein per scoop, with all 9 amino acids. It has no added sugar, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. It also contains a solid amount of calcium and iron. It was a popular flavor with everyone in the house.
