As temperatures rise and pests emerge from winter hiding spots, a new survey by Modern Pest Services reveals how homeowners are keeping pests at bay (and where they’re falling short).
Cleaning emerged as a key component of America’s pest control routines:
- 95% believe that keeping a clean home is a form of pest control
- 68% think monthly deep cleans helps prevent infestations
- Nearly 1 in 10 believe clutter attracts pests the most
DIY prevention is also extremely popular: 97% have tried home remedies, with store-bought pesticides (72%), traps (50%), and scents like lavender and peppermint (44%) taking the lead.
A common misconception: while 60% believe the kitchen is most susceptible to pests, 10% guessed the correct answer (garages). Further, 55% have discovered that something they believed about pest control was incorrect.
