Website Spotlight: Trippy

Trippy is a new social travel website and mobile app designed to inspire and plan travel. Their advisory board members include quite a bit of star power: Jason Mraz, Anthony Bourdain, Andrew Zimmern, and many more notable names. They offer their own unique perspective on travel, and have something for everyone, whether foodie or fashionista or techie - you name it, you'll find something interesting here.

Trippy will have a visual-browsing experience, which is focused on the serendipitous discovery of travel ideas through photos. The experience allows people to view pages of travel photos, click on the places they want to go and have been to, and add travel ideas to visual inspiration boards. Custom boards can even be made for any category, from ‘Feeling Beachy’ and ‘Weekend Getaways’ to ‘Just Eat It’ and ‘Get Cultured.’

“With visual browsing, we’re really taking people all the way from dreaming to doing now, and we are so honored to have such an esteemed group of advisors leading the way to inspire great travel,” said J.R. Johnson, founder and CEO of Trippy.com. “As a new site, we’re able to be fast and focused as we take in how people respond to Trippy. It’s in that spirit of innovation that we’re giving an open look to the public of where we’re headed with Project Delightful.”

Each travel photo is geo-tagged, which helps people remember the locations of all the places they’re inspired to visit and also allows them to see their collection of photo ideas plotted on a map. When travelers are ready to turn their ideas into a real trip, Trippy taps into their social network to show friends who know about the places they’re interested in. This makes it easy to get personally-relevant ideas, creating a full-circle travel-planning experience.

Visit Trippy.com and download the free app from the iTunes store.
