“Gifts and cards are great, but the
most important thing to me on Mother’s Day is simply being with my two
children and sharing the day together,” said Elisa Steele, Chief
Marketing Officer for Skype. “It’s also the day to connect with
my own Mom wherever she may be at the time. With families spread across
the globe, Skype enables moms to connect with their kids no matter
where they are on this special day. But, of course, breakfast in bed
never hurts either!”

I'm fortunate to see my parents and in-laws often. But we can definitely attest to the power of Skype. My brothers have both had long-term military deployments (and one brother is currently stationed in Germany), and since I have young girls, I want them to be able to see and hear them on a regular basis so that they still feel like they have a relationship with them, even while they're gone. Using Skype video, the girls can show their uncle crafts they've made, give him kisses, see what life is like where he lives, and more. Most importantly, they recognize who he is, and they're able to see each other say I love you.
If your mom (or kids) are far away, Skype is a very cost-effective way to call - even internationally!
